WM Volunteers Help Build Habitat for Humanity® Homes
Donning hard hats and wielding power tools, a group
of Waste Management volunteers in Pacoima, California, helped construct
a house that is part of a 63-home neighborhood, the largest Habitat
for Humanity® subdivision in Southern California. Waste Management
employees participate in Habitat for Humanity® projects nationwide.
WM helped Habitat publicize its new Cars for HomesTM vehicle donation
program in several key markets. In addition to providing funding
for the effort, WM asked customers and employees to donate cars,
trucks, boats or RVs. The vehicles were sold and the proceeds were
used to build homes.
