New Life as Golf Complex
In Northbrook, Illinois, a closed landfill is now
the site of a nine-hole golf course where golfers get to Think Green®
every time they play on it. Over 500,000 tons of clean soil were
imported from a nearby military base redevelopment project to shape
and contour the surface of the landfill course.
The complex includes a top-notch driving range,
practice putting and chipping area, as well as a full-service pro
shop. The view is above par as well, offering golfers panoramic
views of Chicago's North Shore.
The golf complex coexists with a methane gas-to-energy
project - so it's not only a source of entertainment, it's also
a source of clean, renewable energy.
