Our people in action.
Each year Waste Management presents its Life Changer
Award to one employee who shows exemplary leadership and compassion,
generating a positive effect in the lives of co-workers, family,
friends and community.
In 2006, the award was presented to Jim Farley, a roll-off truck
driver from Columbus, Ohio. With more than 1,000 hours of volunteer
service in 2005, Farley operates his own mission to help the citys
homeless, providing blankets, coats, gloves and food.
In
2005, the award was given to Robert Fontenot, a 20-year Waste Management
employee who operates heavy equipment at the Chemical Waste Management
facility in Sulphur, Louisiana. Since losing his wife and daughter
at the hands of a drunk driver, Fontenot has spoken to numerous
schools and community groups about the dangers of driving while
intoxicated.
