The Art of Recycling to Support Community Programs
A 550-lb. guitar sculpture made entirely of recycled
materials from Waste Management and WM Recycle America went on display
in Phoenix, Arizona, as part of GuitarMania®, a public art project
that benefits the mentoring program of the Big Brothers Big Sisters
organization.
As a sponsor of the event, the Waste Management
Charitable Foundation joined forces with sculpture students at Phoenix
Country Day School to decorate the fiberglass guitar with a collage
of recyclable materials. The 10-ft. guitar features colored tiles,
glass, mirrors, batteries, film reels, aluminum and other materials.
The GuitarMania event allows us to support a worthwhile community
program while helping the public tune in to an important message
about recycling.
