LiquiFixSM Solidification

Companies that generate liquid waste require a convenient, cost-effective and environmentally friendly way to dispose of these substances. Waste Management's LiquiFixSM solidification service has proved to be a safe and effective solution to this challenge. The LiquiFixSM solidification process involves mixing liquid waste with selected reagents and/or absorbents to create a substance hard and dry enough for landfill disposal. Solidifying liquid waste in this manner allows a company to economically dispose of non-hazardous liquids in a Waste Management Subtitle D landfill while reducing its long-term contingent liability.

PCB Disposal

Waste Management operates several sites approved by the Toxic Substance Control Act. You will find the infrastructure, equipment and technical expertise to transport, treat and/or dispose of PCBs in a manner that is both cost-effective and in compliance with local, state and federal environmental regulations.

PCB’s (polychlorinated biphenyls) were commonly used as a dielectric fluid in electrical transformers, capacitors and other electrical equipment. In 1979, the U.S. government banned further manufacture of PCBs. Today, many manufactured items containing PCBs are being removed from service and we provide a safe way for their disposal.

Transportation

Waste Management offers a full range of commercial and industrial solid waste transportation services for businesses throughout the United States and Canada. Featuring modern, state-of-the-art equipment operated by trained, experienced industry professionals, these competitively priced services are available to meet all your solid and liquid waste transportation requirements.

Independent Hauler

Waste Management landfills provide top-quality disposal services for independent hauling companies throughout the United States and Canada. With approximately 290 active hazardous and non-hazardous disposal facilities, Waste Management landfills are within convenient truck transport range of virtually every major city in North America.

Vickery Deepwell Disposal

Companies that generate aqueous wastes often find Waste Management's deepwell injection to be a safe and inexpensive disposal option. At Vickery, Ohio, the geologic setting is perfect for deepwell injection. Three thousand feet below the surface lies the Mt. Simon Formation, a layer of porous sandstone covering thousands of square miles that is sandwiched between layers of impenetrable rock. Wastes are contained and held here indefinitely without posing any risk to people, animals, plants, groundwater supplies or drinking water resources.

Since the early 1980s, Vickery Environmental Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Waste Management, has used this natural depository by pumping liquid waste under pressure into its subterranean confines. Today, the Vickery facility accepts liquid wastes from generators across North America, providing them with a safe, economical and permanent aqueous disposal alternative.

Transfer Stations

For communities not situated conveniently to landfills, Waste Management transfer stations can serve as efficient way stations between collection points and disposal facilities. At these transfer stations, waste is consolidated, compacted and loaded into long-haul trailers for transport to landfills. This operation improves the use of collection equipment by minimizing transportation time and efficiently moving large volumes of waste to our disposal sites.

Landfill Disposal

Waste Management's landfills utilize the latest advances in landfill technology to protect local ecosystems and ensure long-term integrity.  A dedicated environmental steward, Waste Management ensures that all of our facilities are designed, operated and maintained to meet or exceed local, state and federal regulations.

Many Waste Management landfills offer state-of-the-art bioremediation services for detoxifying contaminated soils.  After treatment, treated soils can be safely disposed of in a landfill or transported off-site for other practical applications.
