New England Area promotes TRANSFORMERS™ in Boston
BOSTON New England Area employees and their families volunteered for the Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) annual walk on June 8. Since 2009, WM has contributed more than $250,000 to support BCH’s mission to help patients. The event featured a WM truck promoting the TRANSFORMERS™ movie and offered a chance for children to climb into the cab.
Waste Management's partnership with TRANSFORMERS was highlighted in the BCH children’s area and generated the largest participation of WM Green Team walkers and volunteers.
WM staff representing Mass., R.I., N.H. and New York raised almost $12,000 combined with WM matching sponsorship for a total of more than $25,000 to BCH this year. "Long term volunteers like James MacFarlane, who drives over four hours round trip each year, and Beth Marshall, who dedicates the entire day to assist with booth set up and coverage, make WM’s success at BCH possible," said Michelle Lee Guiney, Total Recycling Program manager for the New England Area.
Top fundraisers were Jack Szymanski, Jess Piragis, Erin Murphy, Guiney, and Erin Heroux.
