Environmental Health & Safety Portal launches

Customers able to use Waste Management University

HOUSTON – In an effort to help customers maintain legal compliance with such organizations as OSHA
and EPA*, Waste Management is launching a new Environmental Health & Safety portal to educate healthcare
customers on issues surrounding medical waste.

The training, which includes 24/7 access to Waste Management University, is made up of several modules
covering topics like bloodborne pathogens, exposure control and incident reporting. The tool also provides
customers with a range of options for creating compliance manuals, self-paced training models, tailored
evaluations and safety audits.

“Legal compliance with environmental health and safety regulations is crucial to ensuring a safe working
environment,” said Tom Carpenter, director of WM’s Sustainability Services division.

“Proactively training healthcare staff is not only the law — it is the right thing to do.”
