K-12 Green Education Programs
Waste Management's customizable programs help educate and excite people while encouraging green practices in your school.
We can help you connect everyone on campus with the cause of sustainability. Waste Management’s education experts can customize a vibrant educational package for your school or district. Working with you, we can create bi-lingual training posters, conduct lively recycling programs, including those for K-12 – even host field trips to a recycling center in your area.
Our goal echoes yours – make sustainability part of the fabric of everyday campus life.
- Green event pack
From recycling containers to recycling kiosks, solar-powered compactors, and other portable amenities, we can set up your eco-friendly events. And when each event is over, we can pick up and recycle or compost the waste, with less going to landfill.
- Grades of Green
Waste Management partners with this award-winning, non-profit organization to inspire and empower children to care for the environment. The program features kid-friendly programs like “Trash-Free Tuesdays,” “Walk-to-School Wednesdays,” e-waste recycling, composting and ecology.
- Recycle Rally
This national program is designed to help schools make recycling fun and educational. Students are encouraged to earn points by collecting as many non-alcoholic beverage containers as possible for recycling.
- Cartridges for Kids (CFK) Program
This free electronics recycling program provides year-round fundraising opportunities for schools that collect and recycle electronics. CFK will pay schools cash for cell phones, laptops, DVD, ink cartridges, digital cameras, and more. It’s an excellent way to involve the greater school community in recycling education.
- Graffiti Abatement
When graffiti is addressed in a timely manner, repeat offenses are decreased. Our drivers are trained to watch for and report the appearance of graffiti on our dumpsters. When a unit is “tagged,” our drivers report it to the route manager, and it is promptly replaced on the next collection day.
