Waste Management of Alameda County, Inc. (WMAC) is the exclusive provider of residential and commercial recycling, organics and trash collection services for the City of Albany.

Q. What are the hours of collection?
A. Service hours are Monday - Friday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. Regular Saturday Collection Service is available for customers having at least 3 pickups Monday-Friday.

Q. What if I have physical difficulty taking my carts out to the curb?
A. Residential carts can be collected from backyards for an additional fee, or no fee for qualifying disabled individuals.  Call WMAC at (510) 613-8710 for details or download Disabled Service application.

Q. Is there financial assistance for low-income residents?
A. There is not a program for all low-income residents, but seniors may apply for a 20% discount using this form.

Q. How do I recycle used motor oil? Filters? 
A. Free curbside collection of used motor oil and car filters is available to single-family residents.  Place used motor oil in one-gallon screw-top jug available through WMAC (510-613-8710) along with oil filter in customer-provided sealed plastic bag curbside next to carts on collection day.

A. Call the "Rotline" at (510) 444-SOIL or visit www.StopWaste.org for information about home composting, and remember that many items not compostable at home (food-soiled paper, meat and cheese, bread products) can be placed in your green waste cart for composting.
