The 220-acre site is designated for the disposal of municipal solid waste, construction debris and non-hazardous waste. Its services are pemitted by the Marin County Environmental Health Department, Solid Waste Facilities Permit 21-AA-0001.
Acceptable Wastes includes MSW, C&D, non-friable asbestos, municipal sludge, soil, and designated waste (i.e. creosote treated wood, tripe-rinsed containers). For more information on acceptable waste, please call Redwood Landfill at 415-892-2851.
Unacceptable Wastes include RCRA hazardous, bulk liquids, radioactive, explosives, universal wastes, and friable asbestos. For site and technologies to treat these wastes, call (888) 543-9646.
Waste Management and the Redwood Landfill are committed to public safety and environmental stewardship. The overcrossing is tangible evidence of this commitment. In addition to the $7.7 million in construction costs, all on-going maintenance costs will be shouldered by the Redwood Landfill.
The Redwood Landfill Overcrossing is a model for public/private partnership. Together, Redwood Landfill and its public partners addressed a common concern for traffic safety. They also planned for the future. In the event the proposed Marin-Sonoma Narrows highwaywidening project is approved, the overcrossing could be turned over to the State, to be incorporated into the new corridor.
