Education Resources and Facility Tours

We have a variety of resources and tools available to help educate our customers about recycling. The best place to start is by visiting On this site, you can take the pledge to Recycle Often. Recycle Right. You can also download classroom curriculum for grades K-5, art activities, posters and other useful information about recycling. We have fun videos and pictures that will help you learn more about the recycling process. 

We offer our customers a limited number of facility tours and community presentations and on-site speakers by appointment. Please read below about our facilities, guidelines and typical tour dates. If interested, please send an email to with your group name, number of participants, desired facility and tour date, and confirmation that you are a current WM customer.

Education Center and In-Class Presentations

We are unable to schedule K-12 programming (education center tours or in-class presentations) at this time.  Please visit our Recycle Often. Recycle RightTM website for a variety of resources that you can incorporate into your educational activities. These resources include detailed curriculum (K-5), recycled art projects, myth busters and videos. We hope these fun and informative materials enhance your efforts to raise awareness of recycling practices and benefits.

Franklin St. Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) (Franklin Street, Denver): Appropriate for those over the age of 18 and able to navigate climbing of stairs as well exposure to dust and odors associated with recycling residential single stream materials. Tours offered the third Tuesdays of the month, at 10AM or 1PM.

  • The MRF’s state-of-the-art recycling sorting system uses more than 10 different methods to sort recyclable materials. The tour highlights the importance of recycling in your community and workplace. Guests will see how WM receives, separates and prepares recyclable materials for re-use in recycled products.

Denver Arapahoe Disposal Site (DADS) (Gunclub Rd, Aurora): Open to current Waste Management customers 18 years and older. This is a driving tour; limited to 14 passengers in our van or groups may bring their own bus. Tours are offered Tuesdays and Fridays at 9AM.

  • Owned by the City and County of Denver and operated by Waste Management, this is the largest landfill in Colorado and one of the largest in the nation, based on volume received each year. Stops include the scale house, our public drop-off for recycling, the current working face, views of completed areas of the landfill, our dry waste compost site and our Gas-to-Energy Plant, where visitors learn how methane gas is captured and then converted into electricity.
