Waste Management JMK, which opened in 2013, operates in a 90,000 square foot building located on a 10-acre site within the Port of Tacoma and has 24 shipping/receiving docks.
The Waste Management Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) includes a new state-of-the-art sort line operation and new balers. WM JMK Fibers is a modern sorting facility capable of handling a wide range of recyclable materials.
The site accepts many types of material including loose single stream recyclables, loose and baled old corrugated containers (OCC), different types of paper roll stock and various other grades of paper. We also accept different kinds of baled plastics and plastic roll stock. We are open to the public for recycling of loose material such as loose OCC, loose mixed paper, books, etc. We are set up for local small peddler deliveries.
WM JMK is conveniently located across the street from the Washington United Terminal (WUT), one of four terminals in the Port. All four terminals encompass approximately 20 different steamship lines which provides WM with the capability to ship to most of the ports overseas. The WUT terminal includes Hyundai, NYK, OOCL among others. The Pacific Container Terminal (PCT) which is two miles from our location, handles the Evergreen Steamship Line vessels. In addition to our shipments to the export markets, we also ship to various Pacific Northwest domestic mills.
