Michelle Metzler

Public Education and Outreach Manager
Pacific Northwest

Michelle MetzlerMichelle Metzler Michelle Metzler is the Public Education and Outreach Manager for Waste Management of the Pacific Northwest. In this role, Michelle leads a team of Recycling Education Coordinators in working businesses, municipalities, and communities to develop new programs and improve materials management practices. Michelle has worked with hundreds of businesses from a wide variety of industries to develop waste reduction strategies. She has extensive experience conducting waste audits, providing staff trainings, developing education programs, and helping find creative ways for businesses to reduce waste and increase recycling.

Prior to joining Waste Management, Michelle worked for the Multnomah County Sustainability Program where she helped government facilities reduce their waste and implement new recycling programs. She holds a bachelor's degree in environmental economics from Western Washington University and serves as the Conference Chair on the Association of Oregon Recyclers board.

Dominique Miciano-Shocki

Collateral Coordinator
Pacific Northwest

Dominique MicianoDominique Miciano-Shocki is the Collateral Coordinator for Waste Management in the Pacific Northwest. In this role, Dominique collaborates with a talented team of vendors, designers, and printers to develop, maintain, and update all printed public education and outreach customer materials for the 100-plus municipal contracts in Washington, Oregon, Northern Idaho and British Columbia.

As a lover of food, travel and the outdoors, Dominique understands that the sustainability of our planet goes hand in hand with good stewardship. She is a graduate of the Jackson School of International Studies with a degree in International Political Economy. Her experience and education have exposed her to global sustainability practices, which have made her fall in love with making a difference at home, and then outward. As part of the public education and outreach team, she is a proud ambassador of Waste Management's brand and core values that engage communities and build towards a more sustainable future.

Joel Kohlstedt

Education and Outreach Coordinator
Oregon and Western Washington

Joel KohlstedtJoel is an Education and Outreach Coordinator in Oregon and Western Washington. He carries out outreach with both commercial and multifamily properties, and most enjoys working with schools and businesses to find new recycle and compost opportunities.

Joel graduated from the University of Washington with a major in Environmental Studies. His early passion was in education, but after taking a few environmental classes, he realized how important sustainability was, and how much work needs to be done to protect our planet. He carried both of those passions to his current work where he gets to educate about the environment. Joel enjoys the outdoors, snowboarding and camping, and wants to continue working within the environmental field to make the greatest impact he can to protect the environment and its resources.

Vaughn Roadruck

Education and Outreach Coordinator
Eastern Washington and Idaho

Vaughn RoadruckVaughn is a Spokane native and graduate of Eastern Washington University with an interdisciplinary degree in geography, geographical information systems, urban and regional planning, and computer programing. While at EWU, he became very involved with sustainability education and local sustainability planning. This passion led him to a project with local government aimed at creating new ways of understanding recycling diversion rates and recycling behaviors. Vaughn is a veteran of the United States Air Force and enjoys fishing, camping and exploring the Inland Empire.

 

Hannah Scholes

Education and Outreach Coordinator
Western Washington


Hannah Scholes Hannah is an Education and Outreach coordinator for Waste Management of Washington. As an education coordinator, she works with municipal and commercial clients to help increase recycling and organics diversion rates in the Puget Sound region. She is passionate about creating effective engagement campaigns that help change behavior and reduce waste.

Hannah is a Washington native with a B.S. in Environmental Systems from the University of California San Diego. She is devoted to increasing sustainability through both domestic and international environmental education programs. Prior to Waste Management, she worked with families and youth as an Outdoor Science Educator for the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. Her background also includes two years of environmental innovation and rich cultural exchange as an Environmental Conservation Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay. In her spare time, Hannah enjoys backpacking, cooking, and gardening.

Sarah Vaira

Education and Outreach Coordinator
Western Washington

Sarah VairaSarah is an Education and Outreach Coordinator in the Puget Sound region of Washington State. In this position, Sarah develops and implements educational programs to increase participation in commercial and residential recycling and composting. A Northern California native, Sarah came to Washington to attend Seattle University, where she graduated with a B.A. in Humanities for Leadership and Environmental Studies with a specialization in Politics, Policy, and Justice. She is motivated to find mutually beneficially solutions for social and ecological systems to make the planet healthy for all. Sarah is an explorer at heart and is an avid traveler and outdoor enthusiast.
