New WM mobile app provides high-tech way to schedule pickups

Solution designed for on-the-go customers who are away from the office.

HOUSTON, May 28, 2014 – In today’s increasingly mobile world, customers for Waste Management’s large containers frequently find themselves in remote locations, far from a traditional office setting. Recognizing this, the company is introducing new functionality to its mobile account management app, providing these “roll-off” customers with the ability to schedule a pickup request from a compatible mobile device of their own.

Roll-off customers come from a variety of industries and include construction professionals and green builders, hospitals and malls, stadiums and other high-capacity venues. With Waste Management’s industry-first mobile app, they now have a remote option enabling them to:

  • Schedule a pickup up to 30 days in advance
  • Access their accounts from any  location – job site, meeting room, home
  • Pay their bills

The new app came about following conversations with customers about their workday challenges and how Waste Management could help make their jobs easier. It was piloted last fall before its nationwide launch to all roll-off customers this spring. It gives our customers the option of using their iPhone or Android mobile device to connect with Waste Management in a manner similar to that of accessing their account via

“We realize that many of our customers are constantly on the go,” said Jim Trevathan, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Waste Management. “When they need to reach us from a noisy job site, a phone call isn’t always an option. This allows us to be accessible, no matter when or where.”

The WM mobile app is free and available for download on both the iTunes App Store and Google Play. Learn more at or view this do-it-yourself video.
