Company acknowledged for environmental performance and disclosure
Waste Management (NYSE: WM) has been recognized as a leader among S&P 500 companies by environmental non-profit CDP for the depth and quality of climate change data it disclosed to investors and the global marketplace through CDP, the world’s only global environmental disclosure system. Waste Management’s leadership status is announced today in the CDP S&P 500 Climate Change Report 2014.

The CDLI spotlights companies listed on the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index (S&P 500) that have demonstrated a high level of transparency and data quality in their disclosure of climate-related information. The S&P 500 report, including names of companies featured in the CDLI, can be found at www.cdp.net.

S&P Dow Jones Indices, one of the world’s leading providers of financial market indices, and RobecoSAM, the investment specialist focused exclusively on Sustainability Investing, also recently announced the results of the 2014 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) review. Waste Management has been included in the Dow Jones family of indices 10 times in the past 11 years.

Launched in 1999, the DJSI is the first global index to track the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide based on an analysis of financially material economic, environmental, and social factors.  The DJSI follows a best-in-class approach, including companies across all industries that outperform their peers in numerous sustainability metrics.
