Winners announced for Community Connection promotion

Movie tickets and L.A. trip distributed


HOUSTON – As one aspect of its promotion around TRANSFORMERS ™ : Age of Extinction, Waste Management used its Community Connection program to encourage employees to visit and build relations with both current and prospective customers.


After two months, every employee who made a connection — and then entered it on the Mission to a Million platform - was entered for a chance to win a trip for four to Los Angeles. In addition, the top three Areas were given 200 movie tickets to distribute among their employees.


Last week, those winners were announced. See the table below.

“My supervisor sent an email asking us to join our Area Vice President, David Myhan for an announcement,” said Grand Prize Winner Michelle Bridges. “He thanked everyone in the room for our hard work with the Community Connection program and then started talking about the trip to LA. I said to myself, ‘It would be awesome to win something like that.’ Then all of the sudden, he announced me as the winner. I was completely overwhelmed with excitement and being 37-weeks pregnant, I’m extra emotional and just started to cry with joy.”


All employees are encouraged to keeping making connections through the Community Connection program. That’s because at the end of each quarter, a cash sweepstakes will be held as part of the Mission to a Million sweepstakes, which runs until the end of the year.


“The Community Connection program has allowed me to experience our customer base in the local area and visit commercial businesses that I had never noticed before,” Bridges said. “I have visited 139 customers in 2014. As I visit our customers, I learn that most are surprised to know that we are out visiting and thanking our customers and giving them the opportunity to win free service just for being our customer.”
