WM sponsors Business Women’s Conference

Promotes Sustainability Center

Bentonville, Ark. – On September 17, Waste Management served as a corporate sponsor for the Northwest Arkansas
Business Women’s Conference, attended by more than 1,300 of the state’s most accomplished women. The one-day
event was filled with numerous speakers and activities and ended with a keynote speech from model and actress Andie
MacDowell.

As a sponsor, Waste Management participated in the conference’s breakfast and reception, and had numerous
opportunities to spotlight its environmental solutions to those in attendance.

In addition, located near the event is the company’s Sustainability Center, a facility used year-round as a scenic
destination for customers looking to collaborate with Waste Management on ways to make their businesses friendlier
to the environment. During the breakfast, the company premiered a video that talked about the Sustainability Center,
and provided an overview of the services WM can offer.

“There are many ways to present our Think Green mission to customers and prospects,” said Nancy Woods, manager
of the Sustainability Center for WM. “One proven approach involves taking part in reputable industry events, and this
one serves as a good example where we were able to promote what we do, as well as the nearby Sustainability Center,
to potential customers.”
