As part of California state law, a full environmental review was conducted for Waste Management's proposed Modernization and Expansion of the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center.
The report - known as an environmental impact report (EIR) - evaluates different elements of WM's project and any impacts that may need to be addressed. Areas of focus include air quality, traffic, dust, odor and others.
The draft version of the EIR was released at the end of September for the public and relevant government agencies to review and provide comment. By law, all comment letters received must be addressed.
