We live in a world in which nothing can go to waste anymore. Nowhere is this more evident than in our ability to transform the yard waste collected from every home.

Green waste will be picked up from April 1st through November 30th.

Green waste is a pay-as-you-go system. In order to be picked up, your yard waste must have a prepaid yard waste sticker affixed to it. Yard waste stickers are available at Village Hall, 4900 Village Commons or Dominick’s Food Store, 4200 W 211^th St. in Matteson.

Yard waste containers can be no larger than 35 gallons or residents can use bags.

Yard waste stickers:

July 1, 2012 thru June 30, 2013 = $1.60 per sticker
July 1, 2013 thru June 30, 2014 = $1.65 per sticker
July 1, 2014 thru June 30, 2015 = $1.70 per sticker
July 1, 2015 thru June 30, 2016 = $1.75 per sticker

Pick-up Guidelines

• Must be separate from garbage and recycling
• Must be placed in a biodegradable PAPER yard waste bag available at local retail stores or in a CLEARLY identified container that is no greater than 35-gallons and weighs no more than 50 pounds
• ALL reusable containers for green waste must be labeled “Yard Waste Only.” Container labels can be obtained at Matteson Village Hall or Waste Management for no charge.

Brush and branches must be contained, bagged, or bundled and tied. All pieces must be cut into 4-foot lengths or less. Branches should be less than 2 1/2” in diameter.
