Single Stream Recycling Cart

The new recycling cart replaces the blue plastic bag for non-Bear Shed customers. All recycling must be placed in the WM-issued cart (see Bear Shed below for exception). Weekly recycling collection occurs on your trash day and is included in your trash rate. Customers may choose not to recycle but the rate will remain the same. Click here for a printable recycling guide.

Non-Bear Shed Customers are required by IVGID to use the new WM-issued wheeled recycling cart. The standard 64-gallon cart replaces the blue plastic bag.

Bear Shed Customers may use a standard recycling symbol to designate a recycling bin inside their bear shed. In Crystal Bay recyclables may also be placed in a blue plastic bag, but must be contained in the bear shed. TTSD has gone to totes instead of blue bags or cans like WM.

Bear Shed Incentives - Rebates are available through IVGID for residential properties which install an approved bear shed or commercial properties which install an approved wildlife enclosure on their property after July 1, 2016. For more information, go to: BearSmartInclineVillage.org

Trash Cart

Except for bear shed/wildlife resistant cart customers, residents must use the WM-issued wheeled cart. 64-gallon is the standard service level. If you want a 96 or 32-gallon cart, please contact Customer Service to order the cart.

Wildlife Resistant Cart

A wildlife resistant trash cart service level is available from Waste Management. Please contact Customer Service for availability.

Bulky Item Drop Off

Residential customers may drop off up to three (3) cubic yards of trash, including furniture, appliances and construction debris, four (4) times per year at the transfer station at no additional charge. Customers must present utility bill, IVGID card or driver license with service address and be current in their trash payment.

Permission for Renters: Property owners may provide signed permission for tenants to use the bulky drop off and courtesy trash drop off service.  Download and complete permission form.

Christmas Tree Recycling

Waste Management offers one week of curbside Christmas tree pick-up in early January. Trees should be cut into 3 foot sections. They must also be free of flocking, tinsel, decorations and stands.

Courtesy Trash Drop Off

Are you leaving town before trash collection day? As a courtesy, single family home customers (with appropriate IVGID ID/license/utility bill) may drop off the equivalent of weekly curbside allocation of household trash and recycling at no cost. When this option is chosen, the property will not receive collection on their next scheduled service day. If carts with materials are left curbside when this option is exercised, your account will be changed for an additional collection.

Sharps Collection

Used syringes, needles, lancets and scalpel blades cannot go in your trash. They are a biohazard and safety issue.

Pick up a free sharps collection container at the Waste Management office during regular business hours.   Each Sharps container comes with pre-paid return mailing to the treatment facility for certified destruction.

Side Yard Service

Carts can be collected from side yards for an additional fee, or no fee for qualifying disabled individuals. Call (775) 831-2971 for details.

Yard Waste Recycling

Customers will receive 96 stickers for bagged yard waste collection, which occurs for 12 weeks in Spring and 4 weeks in Fall. Stickers are mailed to the billing address of residential accounts. Please verify your account information is current at WM.com. Yard waste may be placed in heavy-duty 32-Gal. trash bags and left at the curb for pick up.  Each heavy-duty trash bag must have a yard waste sticker for pick-up and cannot exceed 40 pounds. Customer can also drop of bagged or loose yard waste at the transfer station during regular business hours. Stickers will still be required for drop off.  Stickers will be delivered to customers each spring. Additional stickers can be purchased by calling customer service at 775-831-2971.  Click here for flyer.

Hot Ash Disposal

Whether it’s your summer barbeque or a warm winter fire, hot coals and fresh ashes can easily ignite surrounding materials. For proper disposal of ashes or coals, please follow these simple rules:

  • Coals or fresh ashes should never be placed in a trash cart.
  • Cool coals for several days in a fireplace or grill, then place in a metal container with a tight lid before placing in trash cart.
  • Do not use galvanized containers, as hot coals on the galvanized metal will release noxious fumes.
  • Never place used coals in plastic, paper or wood containers.
  • To speed the cooling process, carefully place coals in a metal container full of water to extinguish any residuals.
  • Do not place other combustibles in the container with the coals or ashes. Not following these safety guidelines can put your home and neighborhood in danger. It can also cause a fire in your trash cart or a collection truck. Please help keep our drivers your family safe!
