Waste Streams Success Stories
WM provides on-demand lab pack services for hazardous and non-hazardous projects of all sizes. One key WM lab pack customer is a large chemical distribution center that includes multiple warehouses across North America with an extensive list of chemicals. The customer opted to begin service with WM as a result of becoming frustrated with their current supplier’s inability to provide support for complex needs.
WM has proven their understanding of the customer’s waste stream complexity while providing better response and lead times for quoting and pick up. WM utilizes a more care-oriented, immersive approach to provide unparalleled packaging, labeling, and handling of expired hazardous chemicals by properly trained and licensed personnel. WM’s ability to coherently meet their requirements allows the customer to free up valuable warehouse space for valid chemicals while remaining compliant.
Product Recall
WM is the chosen vendor for handling hazardous waste disposal of damaged and recalled products for a large cosmetics third-party logistics fulfillment company. WM’s field chemists provide regular on-site services that include accurately categorizing and profiling waste, as well as scheduling shipments of both hazardous and recyclable packaging waste.
WM’s highly skilled team allows for compliant waste management in a timely manner and in accordance with EPA deadlines and regulations. The customer saves time and money through efficiency of the process—from incinerator scheduling to label preparation. Peace of mind that the waste is being handled properly, and increased warehouse space for usable products, are other valuable benefits the customer experiences with WM.

VRE Management
WM is the chosen vendor for a long-term project of F and K listed tank bottom waste for the conversion of a refinery to commercial-use land. Since 2019, WM has been working with the land development company’s general contractor to remove the RCRA Hazardous waste as Verified Recycled Exempt material (VRE) waste and convert it through a Thermal Desorption Unit (TDU) to reusable fuel for other refineries across the United States. WM has removed 28,000 tons to date.
The material holding immediate value, such as pumpable oil and crude, was removed and handled directly by the customer. However, thousands of tons of tank sludge was left on-site. WM developed an innovative solution for the customer that not only resulted in removing the difficult waste from the site, but also turned that waste into an economical and environmentally friendly asset that could be sold and reused by other refineries.
WM understands that refinery maintenance, and shutdowns are a major concern for customers.
WM’s breadth of services, command of those transportation assets (including rail), and the extensive amount of material that can be efficiently managed make us the preferred vendor for VRE management.
