This facility is part of WM’s enterprise-wide plans to invest more than $1.4 billion in 39 new and upgraded recycling facilities across North America from 2022 to 2027, which is expected to add approximately 2.8 million tons of incremental annual processing capacity by the end of 2027. These planned investments seek to increase WM’s ability to manage more recycled materials and potentially enhance access to recycling for its customers.

Who We Are

What is Single Stream Recycling?

Mixed recyclables are collected curbside by a truck.

Trucks travel to a material recovery facility, where recyclables are unloaded onto a tip floor.

Material is unloaded, inspected, and stored until it’s ready to be transferred to a conveyor.

Sortation equipment separates cans, containers, and bottles from paper. An eddy current and magnets work to sort aluminum and tin cans into a metals-only stream.

Sorted materials are baled and shipped to customers, where they are used as feedstock for new products.
