The protection of ground water and surface water is a top priority at the Richmond Landfill.
We have a network of groundwater and surface water monitoring points on and around our site. Monitoring results are provided to the MOE for review, in accordance with our operating permits for the site.
As a result of this ongoing dialogue with and reporting to the Ministry, a groundwater non-compliance issue was identified by the Ministry in the lands south of Beechwood Road. A field investigation program is under way to delineate the extent of these issues and to establish a corrective measure, including a contaminant attenuation zone (CAZ).
