WM Canada was selected by Circular Materials, a not-for-profit producer responsibility organization (PRO), to develop and operate a new state-of-the-art facility in Cambridge, Ontario. This facility is equipped with the latest mechanical and optical sorting technologies to responsibly process packaging and paper materials after they’ve been collected.

This investment reflects WM’s commitment to:

  • work with government, producers and partners to support local communities with efficient and effective recycling
  • support innovative enhancements to improve recycling rates and meet material management requirements
  • build a stronger, more resilient recycling system and circular economy in Ontario

Recycling Education

The facility will include an education centre designed to make recycling more transparent and accessible, welcoming both children and adults to better understand how the system works.

Increased Sorting Accuracy

These advancements help to streamline processes, increase accuracy and enable a strong focus on innovation, safety and effective material separation to support a more circular future.

New Career Opportunities

Approximately 40 local jobs have been created at the Cambridge facility, as well as an additional 40+ jobs at another facility for a total of more than 80 new jobs as a result of this effort.
