The TCEQ requires that Class 1 industrial waste be disposed of in a dedicated area within the landfill. Class 2 and Class 3 industrial wastes may be co-mingled with municipal solid waste in the landfill. Covel Gardens receives both Class 1 solids and Class 1 liquids. All liquid waste is solidified prior to placement in the landfill. The Solidification Area has a dedicated solidification basin for Class 1 liquids.
Industrial waste is by definition non-hazardous and is created as a result of a manufacturing process or product assembly process. While there are some exceptions to the rule, industrial waste is typically a "process waste" generated by non-municipal and non-residential generators.
