At the Sacramento Recycling and Transfer Station (SRTS), municipal solid waste (trash) is temporarily stored, sorted, and transferred from smaller collection trucks to larger transport vehicles for final disposal at sites like landfills.
Serving as a central hub, the transfer station consolidates waste from multiple collection routes and areas, streamlining operations and optimizing transportation efficiency. This process reduces the number of trips required to transport several tons of waste daily, cutting fuel consumption and minimizing the environmental impact by keeping fewer trucks on the road.
The SRTS proudly serves numerous jurisdictions across Sacramento County and is open to the public six days a week. Click here for current service rates.
