Benefits to the town of Perinton, the town of Macedon, and its residents total more than $2 million per year. The royalty and host fee agreement between the town of Perinton and High Acres includes:
- Guaranteed $1 million royalty-per-ton cash annual cash payment to the town of Perinton
- Free waste pick-up at town facilities up to $30,000 per year
- Free yard waste disposal
- A residential drop-off area
- Free disposal for the town’s Department of Public Works up to $165,500
- A recycling rebate (for bottles and cans) of up to $54,000
- Free curbside recycling for all town residents up to $1.27 million
The royalty and host fee agreement between the town of Macedon and High Acres includes:
- Guaranteed $1 million royalty-per-ton cash annual cash payment to the town of Macedon
- Free waste pick-up at town facilities up to $30,000 per year
- A residential drop-off area
- Free disposal for the town’s Department of Public Works up to $24,000
- A recycling rebate (for bottles and cans) of up to $54,000
- Free curbside recycling for all town residents up to $150,000
High Acres also provides benefits to the broader community:
- Composting facility has composted more than 2 million pounds of food
- Generates 72 million kilowatt hours of electricity
- Operates a 9.6 MW landfill gas-to-energy facility
- Employs approximately 40 workers
- Hosts an annual open house with 1,000 attendees
- Preserved 300 acres for wildlife habitat and maintains 4 miles of nature trails
- Features eight trained falcons and two licensed falconers
- Hosted 30 environmental science internships and host site of 10 Eagle Scout projects
- Transforms 12,000 tons of trees, branches and leaves into mulch annually
- Collects 100 tons of recyclables every year
