For 12 consecutive years, the WM Phoenix Open has committed to producing the world’s largest zero waste event as well as balancing water and a portion of our greenhouse gas footprint. We consider all diversion options for materials and choose the best option for each stream.

Community Impact & Behind the Scenes

The WM Phoenix Open provides endless opportunities for education and engagement, but it doesn’t stop there. The event raises awareness within the community and contributes to long-term initiatives that span far beyond the course.

  • The event has an estimated economic impact of over $400 million.
  • Free hospitality is provided at the Patriots Outpost for active and retired military as well as emergency services workers.
  • The First Tee’s Dream Day activities help drive local youth engagement.

Water

  • During the WM Phoenix Open, water from the kitchens and bars is reused in portable restrooms.
  • Millions of gallons are restored to support AZ Tribal Nations through Water Restoration Certificates.
  • Embedded water education is incorporated throughout the tournament to raise awareness.
