Southern Services Landfill in coordination with the Tennessee Environmental Council teamed up this past Saturday to plant 13 different tree species in the Certified Wildlife Habitat on site.
Volunteers navigated through the mitigated wetlands, planting 350+ trees to help achieve the Root Nashville campaign of planting 500,000 trees by 2050. The recent work by the team enhances the habitat by providing future shelter and nutrients for wildlife, replenishes lost trees due to beavers, and helps improve air quality.
Initiatives like these build fun camaraderie amongst the team here at Southern and are great activities to elevate the Wildlife Habitat to our site goal of a Gold Certification.
