What is an overage?
Summary
An overage is whenever WM documents one of these customer situations:
- Overloaded container (e.g., container lids not securely closed)
- Lids left closed with debris stacked on top of the lids or outside of the container
Generating more waste than expected can cause an overage. Overloaded containers pose safety risks for our drivers and create unsightly messes in your community. An overage is whenever WM documents one of these customer situations:

We're happy to work with you to temporarily or permanently increase your container size, pickup frequency or both. To discuss your options, please contact us.
Note: Any additional waste beyond the size of your lidded container that is left for pick-up can generate an overage charge. Overage service charges may vary by area.
