How can I tell if my waste pickup was delayed or missed?

Learn how to identify a missed pickup for recurring trash, recycling, organics or yard waste and report one if necessary.
Ensure pickup can be completed
There is a chance we were unable to complete your service. Please make sure:
- Nothing is obstructing access to your container.
- There are no items protruding from the container that prevent it from closing.
- All gates or locks protecting your container are open and unlocked.
- Your container is outside the night before pickup.
- There are no unacceptable or hazardous materials in your container.
Check the time
Please allow until 6 p.m. local time for pickup to occur, we might still be on the way!
View your waste pickup schedule
Sometimes, unforeseen circumstances like traffic, weather or truck repairs may delay your order. If this happens, you should receive an alert. To view alerts:
- Click Schedule & ETA in the upper right section of the screen.
- Log in or type in your address to view alerts or service interruptions.
Customers logged in to My WM may update communication preferences to receive text or email alerts.
Report a missed pickup (single account linked)
- Log in to My WM.
- On the My WM dashboard, navigate to the corresponding service card and click Details to view, if available, any photos or videos of your attempted pickup.
- If you are eligible to report a missed pickup online, click Missed Pickup and follow the steps to schedule a new pickup.
Missed pickups can only be reported for successful service attempts and within 5 days of the pickup.
Report a missed pickup (multiple accounts linked)
- Log in to My WM.
- On the My WM dashboard, go to "My Services" and click Manage My Services.
- Select the service address and the container that was missed from the "Select Service" dropdown menu.
- If you are eligible to report a missed pickup online, locate the Next Pickup card and click Report a Missed Pickup. Follow the steps to schedule a new pickup.
Missed pickups can only be reported for successful service attempts and within 3 days of the pickup.
Report a missed pickup for your home (Not logged in to My WM)
- Click Schedule & ETA at the top of WM.com’s navigation bar.
- Input your address and click Verify to check your eligibility.
- Under the “Next Pickup” section, click Missed Pickup.
- Fill out your contact information and click Missed Pickup.
If you are unable to report a missed pickup
In some cases, the Missed Pickup button will not show and you may be unable to report a missed pickup. This can occur when:
- Your container was not at the curb.
- Inclement weather/unsafe road conditions prevented us from making a pickup.
- Your container was blocked.
- The scheduled service date was more than 3 days ago.
For business customers that are unable to report a missed pickup, you can request an extra pickup. For residential customers that are unable to report a missed pickup, you can wait until your next pickup date or reach out using the “Request Help” button below.
Information in this article may be inapplicable to customers who receive service pursuant to a WM agreement with a municipality, association or other entity, or where applicable law requires differing terms of service.
