WM provides an essential service to our customers and the community, and we remain focused on prioritizing essential collection and disposal services.

We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will update this webpage as new information becomes available. Please check back often.

Southern California

Facility Closures or Reduced Hours of Operation1

Due to the impact of COVID-19, all redemption/buyback/drop-off centers are closed.

In addition, events in all areas are postponed until further notice. Events include but are not limited to; community clean ups, shred events, compost giveaways and planned Earth Day events.

Northern California

Due to the impact of COVID-19;

Effective for all homes and all cities/counties2

Due to the impact of COVID-19 social distancing requirements, the number of people sheltering at home and increased volumes of residential materials, the following services are temporarily suspended until further notice:

  • Bulk collection (e.g., furniture, carpet, mattresses, appliances)
  • Extra waste stickers and bag and tag programs
  • Cardboard and used oil
  • Any extra trash bags or any items that do not fit safety inside the WM container

In addition, events in all areas are postponed until further notice. Events include but are not limited to; community clean ups, shred events, compost giveaways and planned Earth Day events.

Office Closures or Reduced Hours of Operation2

All offices and buyback centers will be closed until further notice. Payment drop box remains open.

Temporary schedule changes and/or closures of facilities are as follows:

  • Butte County - North Valley MRF & Ord Ranch Transfer Station; Public access drop off closed
  • Mendocino County - Fort Bragg Disposal Non-CRV Recycling Drop Off; Open Tuesday thru Friday
  • Nevada County - McCourtney Road Transfer Station; Recycling Buy Back Center Closed. 
  • Sacramento County - Sacramento Recycling and Transfer Center (SRT); Open for trash and recycling. HHW Drop off and HHW Reuse Closed.
  • San Joaquin Valley - Lodi Transfer Station; Closed:

Unless your service is listed in service suspension or delays listed above, please follow our standard service guidelines, ensure your containers are available on your regular collection day and continue to recycle right.
