WM provides an essential service to our customers and the community, and we remain focused on prioritizing essential collection and disposal services.


If your community is not listed here, there are no Service Alerts for your area.

Effective for residential customers serviced by Waste Management in the following counties: Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Miami, Linn and Franklin Kansas

Beginning the week of 06/22/2020, residential collection will begin at 6 a.m for June, July, and August due to the extreme heat forcasted in the upcoming weeks.
The safety of our employees is one of our top priorities. The current 30-day outlook for Kansas City metro area reflects periods with temperatures greater than 90 degrees. We ask that residents place their trash and recycling carts at the curb by 6 a.m.

 

Facility Hours of Operation

Information and details regarding temporary schedule changes and/or closures at Landfills and Transfer Stations due to COVID-19 social distancing requirements are listed at the WMSolutions website pages.

Unless your service is listed in service suspension or delays listed above, please follow our standard service guidelines, ensure your containers are available on your regular collection day and continue to recycle right.

 

Important Information from Waste Management Regarding Bulk Collection Service- Shawnee

The collection of bulky items (e.g., furniture, carpet, bagged mattresses) will take place within a 3-month period. Based on the schedule outlined below, all Shawnee Waste Management customers will be allowed to schedule one free collection up to 5 bulky items.

Please note: You will only be allowed one free collection this year.

Section 2- East of 435 and South of Shawnee Mission Pkwy: call now through 7/24 for July Pickup.

Section 3- Everything West of 435: call now through 8/21 for August Pickup.

Section 1- East of 435 and North of Shawnee Mission Pkwy: call now through September 25 for September Pickup.

In order to ensure our completion of all core services, we would appreciate your cooperation in observing the schedule and the bulky item rules/limitations listed on the reverse side.

Rules / Limitations

  • Up to 5-bulky items per residential unit
  • I.E., Furniture, bagged mattresses, carpet roll tied
  • (1 – 4’ roll = 1 – bulk item), table, chair, etc.
  • Appliances
  • Garbage bags must be under 50 lbs. and each bag will be considered 1 bulk item
  • All Glass must be taped for safety purposes.

Not acceptable

Wood, fencing, construction materials, glass panels larger than 4-feet, paint, tires automotive batteries, oil tanks, HHW, Yardwaste, compressed cylinders
