Waste Management Acquires Medical and Dental Waste Processing Facility and Business in Ohio

DUBLIN, Ohio --Aug. 5, 2010 – WM Healthcare Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of Waste Management, Inc. (NYSE: WM), today announced that it has acquired a medical waste processing facility and collection assets based in Dublin, Ohio, from Frontier Services, LLC, a provider of medical and dental waste collection and treatment services. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

WM Healthcare Solutions purchased autoclaves and the operations of a 10,000 square-foot facility in Ashland, Ky.  “With the purchase of these assets, we can now provide our services in a five-state area including Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and Indiana.  The acquisition

fits into Waste Management’s strategy to manage solid waste, medical, recycling and pharmaceutical waste for the healthcare industry,” said William Bryce, general manager of WM Healthcare Solutions. The treatment facility today serves approximately 500 healthcare facility customers, and employs six people.

“We purchased the operations of Frontier Services in order to expand our medical waste business in the Ohio area and beyond,” Bryce said. “While we offer medical waste disposal, we now can provide a wider range of service options including consulting and cost savings for hospitals, clinics, laboratories, doctors’ offices and a variety of other healthcare businesses.  Our unique integrated solutions provide safe medical waste treatment and disposal services.  Waste Management also offers solid waste, recycling, and construction and demolition materials collection, processing and disposal services to the healthcare industry.”
