El Sobrante

Located in Corona, the El Sobrante Landfill is a state-of-the-art waste disposal facility that protects the environment and minimizes the impact to the local landscape. With a capacity to process up to 70,000 tons of waste per week, it is an integral part of Riverside County's waste disposal system, processing about 43% of the County's annual waste.

Waste Management of the Inland Empire has placed over 600 acres of the landfill into a permanent habitat preserve and El Sobrante is one of six landfills nationwide to receive international recognition from the Wildlife Habitat Council for its outstanding environmental track record.

The landfill is closed  New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Facility
The El Sobrante Landfill is designed to dispose of non-hazardous solid wastes. All disposal areas are constructed with a composite liner system and leachate collection system. The leachate collection system gathers wastewater that is generated by the overlying municipal solid waste.
Environment
Waste Management of the Inland Empire is steadfastly committed to responsible environmental stewardship. Using the most cutting edge technology available in our industry, we operate our facilities in a manner that protects the environment and minimizes impact to local landscapes.
