Fairless Landfill is conveniently located in Falls Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The facility provides safe disposal services for communities, businesses and industries.
WM’s approximately 300 disposal facilities employ the latest advances in landfill technology. Fairless is designed and constructed with environmental protection systems that meet or exceed rigorous government regulations and are subject to stringent monitoring and reporting requirements. These systems include high-density polyethylene (HDPE) base liner system and capping, leachate collection and treatment, and landfill gas collection and management.
In 2004, WM entered into an agreement with US Steel to purchase property for the proposed landfill site. WM made a $20 million investment to clean up environmental impacts in former borrow pits. Under Pennsylvania's brownfield redevelopment regulations, we cleaned up a hazardous waste disposal area, filled remaining pits and reclaimed these areas by placing clean soil over them. Materials exhumed were disposed of at an off-site facility.
