Site recognizes Geno Tognoli

Sonora, Calif. – During its 100 Days of Summer Safety campaign, Waste Management of Cal Sierra recognized employee Geno Tognoli for his excellent safety record after nearly 20 years with the company.

Before coming to WM, Tognoli worked at a post office for about 30 years. Following that, he decided a change was in order and came to work at the Jamestown Landfill before joining Waste Management in 1995, starting as a gateway attendant at the Pinecrest transfer station.

This remote facility sits at 5,500 feet above sea level and can get very cold with a significant accumulation of ice and snow each year. For more than 10 years, Tognoli worked without a safety incident. In 2005, he moved to Sonora, Calif., where he now runs the Recycle Store. While there, he has also remained incident-free.

With nearly 20 years with the company, and an 86th birthday approaching, Tognoli is a classic example of how some things just get better with time.
