Michele Grossman Named WRN 2013
Rosie Award Winner

“We are very proud of Michele and her
accomplishments in Zero Waste”

Oakland, Calif. – Last week, Waste Management’s Michele Grossman, a managing principal
for Sustainability Services, was one of 12 recipients selected for the 2013 Waste & Recycling News
Rosie Award.

Named after Rosie the Riveter, the iconic symbol of the American woman, the award identifies
women in the waste and sustainability industry who inspire greatness through leadership, work ethic,
vision, creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. One of Grossman’s greatest accomplishments is
the greening of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, an event that attracts more than 500,000
spectators each year.

“We are very proud of Michele and her accomplishments in Zero Waste,” said Tom Carpenter,
director of Growth and Development. “With more than 15 years of experience in the environmental field,
she has helped WM customers achieve their sustainability objectives, concentrating on the triple
bottom line, while ensuring that their brand and quality is not compromised.”
