Eligible customers will now receive free recycling service, including container delivery, through Colorado's Extended Producer Responsibility program.
Under this program, producers will cover the cost of residential recycling collection. Single-family homes, HOAs, and multi-family residential customers who currently pay for recycling through their waste hauler will no longer see a separate charge for recycling service. The cost will be covered by the producers of paper products and packaging materials through the program.
Through the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program, Colorado is aiming to expand recycling access, increase recycling rates and reduce waste. EPR shifts the cost of recycling from consumers and local governments to the companies that create the packaging.
This means that once the program is operational in your area, you may receive a recycling cart and every-other-week recycling collection for free. WM will offer free recycling to existing and new customers.

Encourage producers to design more sustainable packaging
