WM + MLB Sustainability Impact

Sustainability In Baseball & Beyond
WM is honored to be serving as the first sustainability-focused partner of Major League Baseball™. Together we are driving sustainability efforts in big-league ballparks and throughout communities across North America.

How WM Is Stepping Up to the Plate
Since becoming the official sustainability partner in April 2024, WM has launched game day initiatives to increase community involvement, cut food waste and expand recycling education.

Club Engagement
All Clubs have access to sustainability advisory services. Clubs are paired with a dedicated team from a nationwide network of sustainability advisors who provide industry-specific expertise on how to measure, manage and improve sustainability performance.

Expanded Recycling
In addition to recycling items like bottles, cans, cardboard, and paper, WM is helping the League and its Clubs to expand the materials they collect and recycle at the ballpark. Additional recycling streams that have been added across several stadiums include thin plastics, textiles, batteries and e-waste.

Support at Key Events
The MLBTM All-Star Game® presented by Mastercard, Postseason games and additional league events are supported with virtual and on-the-ground advisory support. Over the past two seasons, 250+ Green Team volunteers have been brought in to help with recycling at these events.

Recycling Education
Fans have received fun recycling education that shows them how to properly dispose of common items and gives a behind-the-scenes look at how those items are recycled and used to create new products.
