The DEA strongly encourages all practitioners to adhere to security controls and procedures to mitigate controlled substance wastage diversion.
Our controlled substance wastage disposal service supports your healthcare organization’s diversion prevention efforts. Although additional measures throughout your facility are recommended, CsRx® is a solution for safely disposing of controlled substance wastage immediately after patient administration, to help reduce the likelihood of drug diversion and protect the environment.*
The Program Includes:
- CsRx® Interactive Online Training Module
- Staff training with instructions on proper and best practices
- Lockable wall-mounted brackets and hardware installed by our installation team
- Containers pre-filled with deactivating and deterring agents. Solidifying agents included for transport
- Ongoing and proactive container management
- Destruction of wastage by incineration
*The CsRX Service is for controlled substances that have been prescribed, dispensed and administered to a patient at the registrant's location and that need to be disposed of at that location. CsRx® containers are for controlled substance wastage only, including those in schedules II, III, IV and V. They are not for the disposal of Schedule I controlled substances, controlled substances brought in by patients or controlled substances considered part of a facility’s inventory.
