What's Banned?

What's Banned Hazardous items contain harmful components and are not safe to place in a landfill. Words such as Danger, Warning, Caution, Poisonous and Flammable on labels can mean a product is toxic. Please keep toxics out of your collection carts or bins, and follow these instructions for proper disposal.

The Alameda County Household Hazardous Waste Program has convenient and cost-effective programs for businesses that generate small quantities of Hazardous and/or Universal Waste, such as:

  • Batteries
  • Cleaners & other chemicals
  • Fluorescent bulbs
  • Herbicides & peticides
  • Mercury thermometers & thermostats
    (all mercury containing devices)
  • Oil-based paints

Businesses must set up an account before waste can be accepted. It's easy to apply.
