Single-family Residential Service

All single-family residences and duplexes (two units) have been provided with the following enhanced services on your collection day:

  • Recycling buckets - not to exceed 20 lbs.
  • Household trash buckets

Place all buckets at curbside by 5:00 am on your scheduled collection day. Lids must be closed, and the lid opening must face towards the street. Buckets should be placed side by side at least 2 feet apart and 2 feet away from parked cars or objects. As a courtesy to your neighbor, promptly remove buckets after service.

Maximum Weight Limits
96 gallon buckets: 250 lbs.

To avoid exceeding the weight limitation of the bucket, or causing possible damage to the bucket or collection vehicle, do not place rocks, concrete, bricks or dirt inside buckets. Any items placed within the bucket must fall out easily when the bucket is being serviced. Please do not overfill or tightly pack items into the bucket.

If the bucket exceeds the weight limitation, the driver will attempt service and will notify the resident of the problem by leaving a Non-Collection Notice attached to the bucket. However, if we are unable to empty the bucket, the bucket will be tagged and marked as “overweight.”

Resident Responsibility for Bucket
Each resident is responsible for the proper care and security of the trash and recycling buckets. Customers will be charged to replace buckets that are damaged or destroyed other than through normal usage. Please contact Customer Service for bucket replacements.

Prohibited Waste
Do NOT place the following materials in your buckets:

  • Hazardous Waste (products labeled toxic, poison, corrosive, flammable, or irritant)
  • Paint
  • Oil
  • Automotive batteries
  • Tires
  • Hot ashes
  • Electronic waste (electronic equipment such as computers, TVs, cell phones, microwave ovens)
  • Infectious waste (including used needles)
  • Dead animals (weighing more than 10 lbs.)

If these materials are found in the bucket, it will be tagged with a Non-Collection Notice and will not be serviced. It will then be the responsibility of the resident to make the correction and contact WM for service.
